Ballin' On A Budget

We all want to look like a million bucks! Seriously though, who has those funds? If you do, this post is not for you! If not, I hope that you get some great tips for how to shop your favorite stores and brands while still being smart about your money and not overspending.

One: There's an app for that. Pretty much every company has an app dedicated to their goods, services, etc. These apps are great and can save you a ton of money. They give you special promo codes and will even alert you to when there are sales going on in their stores. One of my favorites in Target's Cartwheel app! Even if it is not a company app that you download to your smart phone or device of choice, there are plenty of apps to help you.

For example, RetailMeNot is an app that has hundreds of deals and promo codes that you can use at anytime in almost any store. It is extremely easy to use. You simply go shopping and when you're ready to check-out, you open up the app, search for your store and *BOOM* a list of available coupons for you to use. I used this last week on a pair of super cute sandals. I didn't want to pay $80 for them, so I searched for that store in the app and I only paid $47.

Two: Sign up for the email list or text list. If a company offers both, then do both. This can get you even more savings! Similar to the features of an app, these will alert you to sales and give you promo codes.
*As a plus-sized lady, I LOVE Lane Bryant. I am signed up for their emails and text alerts. In the past year, I have paid full price for maybe 3 items. Everything else has been a fraction of the cost! (I'm talking $100 dresses for $20 just by knowing when their sales are and having promo codes). Lane Bryant does this great thing where every so often; you'll get an email or text saying "Let's do lunch" which is a special, usually online-only sale from 11-1 that is only for those people who are signed up for the emails/texts.

Are Beauty products more you thing? Sign up for those lists too. Ulta, Sephora, you name it. They've all got email or text lists and the savings are unbelievable. If you're like me, you are constantly on the hunt for the perfect shade of red lipstick or just wanting to change up your look. Cosmetics are a great way to do that, but that's no reason to pay a small fortune for them.

Three: Don't be afraid to use shopping service sites. The on that I am speaking of in particular is ShopItToMe. This website is AMAZING! You go in and select the brands that you want, then select your size and enter a few personal pieces of information (email and location) and then voila you will get email updates when your brands are on sale in your size and in your area. It really is great. These brands range from very high-end to run-of-the-mill and will have a price point for every fashionable lady.

Four: Sales, Sales and MORE SALES. On top of apps, emails and texts, follow your favorite stores or companies on social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc). You can get additional price reductions by using hashtags or "checking-in" at their location. These social media sites also remind you again about sales that they are having. A lot of companies do annual or semi-annual blow-out sales. One of my favorite is Belk's Charity Sale. You must purchase a ticket to attend this sale and proceeds go towards charities (see stores for details), and you get your items at significantly reduced prices. I'm talking $400 dresses for $30!

I hope that these tips help you keep your closet and you wallet full!

Fashionably,

Kate
